How do I pay for my trip?
We ask that a deposit of $3000 be made at the time of booking to secure your spot for the 2019 Beacons Shoot.  Another installment of $3000 is due by February 1st, 2019 and the last installment of $3750 must be paid by May 1, 2019.  

What if my spouse wants to come?
Spouses are welcome to attend for an extra $1900.  There are a limited number of seats on the bus, so space is limited for non-shooting spouses.  The week will be planned to include a couple days in the field watching the shooting, a couple days of sight seeing with a local tour company, along with relaxing in the quaint town of Crickhowell or enjoying a spa day.  Spouses that wish to share a peg and shoot are more than encouraged! Please let us know.

What date should I arrive at Heathrow?
We suggest arriving at Heathrow on the Saturday before,  or early Sunday morning, of your start date.  Our shuttle will pick you up at 10:30 am on Sunday morning.  If you come in on Saturday, the Marriott Renaissance, located next to Terminals Two and Three, is an excellent choice.  This is very close to our pickup and drop-off point. If there are a few of you at this hotel, we will likely pick you up in the lobby.

Who will pick me up and drop me off?

Sean and our driver will pick up the team at The Heathrow Airport on Sunday, November 24th at 10:30am at Terminal 3 Departures. We will drop you off on Saturday, November 30th at Terminal 3 Departures by 11:30am.

What if I miss my pick up?

Please contact Sean at 717-919-5317 as soon as you know you will be delayed.  If we have to wait an hour or less, we will.  If it is longer, we can arrange a shuttle service for you to get to Crickhowell. The incurred cost would about $300. The service we will use is Crickhowell Taxis

What date should I depart from Heathrow?
Book your departure flight after 1:30pm on Saturday, November 30th.  Our shuttle will drop you off at Heathrow around 11:30.  If plans are made outside of our group pick up and drop with the shuttle, you will have to find your own transportation to The Dragon Inn.  If you are traveling with your own gun, we recommend departing after 2:00 to allow time to clear Customs and Border Control.  

What clothing is required?    What is the etiquette?
Many shooters like to wear typical English shooting attire, but it is not a requirement.  If you are looking for a particular bit of kit, we can offer suggestions.  Staying comfortable, warm and dry is most important.  No camouflage or blaze orange though.  Rubber boots, rain gear, warm clothes in case of snow, dry boots, good shooting gloves, a tie, a comfortable jacket and a friendly attitude.  Eye protection and ear protection are highly recommended. What if I want to bring my own guns?
That is perfectly alright, and we will introduce you to our local agent in the UK who can arrange for your Visitor's Permit for temporary importation. Please let us know right away as it takes 4 months to process the gun permits. 

What is included in the trip?
Ground transport, lodging, all food, gun hire, Visitor’s Permits for use of our guns, ammunition, and drinks in the field on the shoots.

What is not included in the trip?
Flight to London, drinks in the evening, daily tips to the head keepers (£30-£50 per day) and other various tips for hotel staff, shooting instructors, and our keepers, if desired.

What if I need to cancel my trip?

All deposits are refundable if someone has to cancel provided we can get someone to fill the peg.  There has been a waiting list every year, so filling the spot, given enough notice, may be feasible.  Or we can hold the deposit for the following year.  Even if someone cancels at the last minute, a portion of the money would be returned.  Certain costs would remain even if someone didn’t attend, the cost to each estate specifically, food related costs would not be incurred, and we could not in good conscience keep it.  We highly recommend that you get trip cancellation insurance regardless, and we can provide recommendations.

What if I want to take the train or bus to Crickhowell and arrive early?

We do not recommend taking the train.  Past shooters have tried and have encountered difficulties.  There are poor accommodations for luggage on the train, no porters and no space and you have to make connections. 
It is much easier to take a bus to Newport if you get in late or your flight is delayed and you miss our pick up.  The Heathrow Central Bus Station is adjacent to Heathrow Terminal Two, and the bus goes to Newport.  Here is a link to the National Express bus service.  A car service is also available.

How much money should I bring?
Other past shooters suggest no less than £450.  Gratuities to the head keepers, while discretionary, generally total around £180 for the week.  The rest should be enough for drinks, other tips (to our staff and house staff) and incidentals.  US debit cards will not always work in Britain.  There is a post office around the corner and they exchange money and have the best rate.  They will not take $100 bills.  There is also an ATM you can use.  You will need to know your pin numbers. Lloyds recently opened a branch in town.  Regardless, we would highly recommend that people arrive with some pounds.  Your local bank should be able to help you.  Also, check exchange rates when you book, as they are currently quite favorable.

Can I speak with past shooters?  Absolutely and we recommend that you do; they sell the shoot well!  Shooters from past trips will be more than happy to share their experiences and speak with you further about our shoot.  Contact us for a list of references.
